Pictures

I have been drawing on and off for a few years now and really enjoy the practice.

It’s a great regret of mine that I didn’t feel good enough as drawing to continue when I had art classes at school. I also regret not continuing to draw as often as I did when I was a child: unselfconsciously and repeatedly.

When I think back to those early pictures, drawing was immense fun. I had no thought of improvement or even expression. It was just joyous creativity.

The past few years have seen me giving myself the permission to draw again, hopefully with that same attitude. I do hope to improve: indeed, I do hope to display my drawings when they come to a standard that I’d be proud of, but I have a long way to go until then.

Drawings: the work, the practice, the fun

Recently, I have been displaying images on a drawing Instagram feed, making up a sort of progress diary. It certainly doesn’t contain every practice drawing I’ve made and it’s no where near where I want to be.

I follow a lot of concept artists and fashion designers in particular on this platform and I’d love to do what they do. While I have no idea where my practice may lead, their work is a great place to aim for.
